  • Lemon - 1
  • Tomato - 2
  • Garlic - 8 pods
  • Green chilli - 1
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry powder - 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilli - 1
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves - a string
  • Curry leaves - 2 strings
  • Oil - 1 tbsp

Keep all the ingredients ready.

Mash the tomato into paste, add turmeric powder, green chilli, salt and curry powder to it.

De-skin and crush the garlic pods. Squeeze out lemon juice in a bowl.

In a vessel mix the tomato paste with a cup of water. Add only 3 crushed garlic pods to this and stir.

Bring it to boil and remove from heat.

Heat a tbsp of oil in a pan; add mustard seeds; let it splutter; add broken red chillies; add curry leaves, cilantro and remaining crushed garlic.

Saute for a minutes; add tomato mixture; cook for a minute.

Add lemon juice; cook for a minute and remove from heat.

Tasty lemon rasam is ready to serve.
